Alejandro Valverde is disputing next Sunday a new edition of the National Championships, a race that this year is being celebrated in the town of Soria. The competition, a bit longer than previous years with a distance of 207 km, runs through a first section with several hills and a final circuit with various climbs that will complicate the outcome.
The cyclist from Murcia, who only participates in the road race, was the Spanish Champion in 2008 (Talavera de la Reina) and 2015 (Cáceres). In addition, in 2014 (Ponferrada) he won the time trial title, achieving a double that only Abraham Olano, Iván Gutiérrez and Ion Izagirre have.
Valverde is in charge of a powerful Movistar Team with all the national riders of its complete roster. The World Tour team tries to prolong its fantastic streak in this race, uninterruptedly chaining the triumph in each championship celebrated since the 2010 season.
