Santa Claus is coming!

It is already Christmas time! Time went by so fast!

So many things happened since the end of the cycling season! So many things to tell you…

On October 20 I married my fiancée, Natalia. Our families and many friends were present as well as many people belonging to the world of cycling. About 400 people in total attended our wedding. We will never forget that day.

We spent the first part of our honeymoon in New York, a city that we already knew but we wanted to visit one more time because the city that never sleeps is one of our favorites. It was very particular this time because we were present in the Big Apple together with hurricane Sandy. It was really impressive.

Later on we traveled to French Polynesia and spent a few authentic relax days in the island of Bora Bora, on the beach.

As soon as we were back in Europe, I traveled again to Pamplona to take part in the training session my squad Movistar organized like usually at that time of the year.  As soon as it finished it was team-mate Imanol Erviti’s time to get married. It was a really nice wedding and we had a great time there.

Last week I travelled to Italy in order of paying a visit to our sponsors and fixing everything before the start of season 2013. Pinarello showed me the new bike, Sidi the customized shoes I will be wearing next season and Selle Italia the very new saddles. Now all I have to do is to train a lot to be in great shape as soon as the new season starts.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Thanks for your support

Good evening everybody,

I am finally at home after three really tough and hectic weeks.

I want to thank all of you who followed the Vuelta on my website and send me support messages on Twitter. It really meant a lot to me and you helped me fighting every day in that fantastic Vuelta a España.

Now I have to prepare the road world championship.

See you in the Netherlands on Sunday September 23.

Thank you everybody, from de bottom of my heart,

And tomorrow the time trial

Hello everybody,

The first rest day passed by already and after a rather quite stage today the individual time trial will be waiting for us tomorrow. Everybody knows that it is not my favorite specialty but that one is a rather tough one and I prefer that to a flat one. I shall do my best no to lose much time.

As for now we are of course really happy with the result we achieve. Not just me but the entire team. I finish the first part of the race with good feelings within the first positions of the GC. And of course very happy with my two wins and the team time trial we won the first day.

Thank you everybody for your support messaged, in Twitter and on the road. It is really nice to see so many fans applauding us every day.

Have a nice evening,

And now the Vuelta!

After spending 12 days with my family on the beach, yesterday I had to prepare my luggage to go to San Sebastián.

And on Saturday it will be the turn of the Vuelta.

So, I left the Southern part of Spain and won’t be back before mid-September.

During the Vuelta, you will be able to follow my results and quotes on my website, like usually.

Many greetings,

Some rest at least

After the Tour, the Olympic Games and two criteriums –which in fact were true difficult, long and fast races (the one in the Netherlands was almost entirely on cobblestones), I will rest during two days with my family before starting training again.

I really had a nice time in Northern Europe and I was delighted for meeting so many cycling fans in countries where cycling is the most popular sport.  I was impressed when I saw how many pages Belgian and Netherlands dedicate every day to cycling.  I was also impressed by the amazing quantity of people who came to watch the race (about 30.000 in each event) and also by the way the organizers welcome riders and public.

I hope I can go again next year.

You can have a look at both criteriums photographs in the pictures gallery. I hope you like them.

Write soon,
